Everybody Has Their Own "Stuff"

Two years ago today, I had a stroke.

Bummer.

I am thankful for the fact that I don't get up every morning and say, "Really? This happened to me?" and wait until I can go to bed that evening.

I am thankful for the fact that I can talk and write. (that was really hard)

I am thankful for the fact that I don't have to use a wheelchair any more and I can walk, without my AFO. (brace on my right leg)

I am thankful for my right arm getting better.

I am getting better! Everyday. There are so many who don't get better.

What happened to me was shocking, and I got a little press (The Oregonian newspaper article on me) but EVERYBODY has their own "stuff" to deal with!

I want to thank my family, neighbors (who saved my life!), friends and "friends", and whoever else that has prayed for me, supported me, helped me through this tough time.

Thank you!

You have been truly blessed with an astounding recovery and I am happy for the opportunity to "know" you through a mutual friend, David Darrow. My husband also had a massive stroke two years ago coming up in February. Amazing how God blesses us. Someday I hope to tell you his story.
Meanwhile, God bless you and your family and I am one who prayed for you through Facebook "friendship". Blessings from here on out to you Annie. Love your attitude :)

Annie...I am so proud of you! And you are correct- everyone has stuff although I do think yours ranked pretty high up there on the OMG scale. I have to believe that a huge part of your successful journey back was that inner drive, determination, perseverance and incredible attitude. You are amazing and I am proud to even know you just a little bit! Yay for each and every little victory along the way and the utmost respect from me...XO! You are a hero friend!

Hey Annie, I think you know that I am a huge fan of yours. I was a fan before your stroke, and, of course, even a bigger one after---because I can't get over your resolve to paint again. We all knew that you would, but I am sure no one knew that you would come back as good, if not better, than before...but oh man, you surpassed what we thought was humanly possible.
When I think of the things that have befallen me everything is small potatoes next to what happened to you. You are probably tired of hearing it at this point, but you are an inspiration to all your painting friends and all others too. The amount of tenacity and grace that you've shown is unparalleled in my book...so, yeah...you are a Hero to me....and you can put that in your pipe and smoke it, girlfriend.

I had only been blogging for a short time when you had your stroke. I admired your work, but didn't know much about you. When a whole community of bloggers, friends and family were there for you and your family I knew that you were a very special person. You were in my prayers and like many others have followed your progress. As I have begun to know you through blogs and FB I have an admiration for your strength, attitude and determination to continue with your art and triumph over the challenges that you have encountered. Yes, we all have our "stuff" and that is why I have to say your willingness to share this journey will help someone else along the way. So, I will continue to think of you and hope that maybe some day we will have the opportunity to meet. I still admire your work and admire you! hugs .....

Annie, I can't add anything more to what has already been said in all the comments above. In particular I ditto everything that Celeste wrote. We're all just so glad of, and perhaps astounded at, your amazing recovery. Hugs!
